As Wood Green is so close to Green Lanes, a long stretch of road often referred to as Little Istanbul, residents of the neighbourhood enjoy close proximity to some of the very best Turkish food in London. Local favourites include Crystal and Kervan Sofrasi, which are both popular for chicken shish, diced lamb pide and other traditional Turkish dishes. For Vietnamese food, including fresh pho, there’s Mien Tay. There are also a number of excellent pubs in the area, including The Prince on Station Road, which specialises in craft beer from independent breweries and does a mouth-watering Sunday roast, and The Goodness Brewing Company, Wood Green’s very own local brewery.
For your daily coffee fix, Wood Green boasts several local cafes including Bean and Brew, which is conveniently located next to Wood Green’s underground station and does an excellent almond croissant. If you’re looking for a local market, the Myddleton Road Market gathers local producers, vintage traders and street food vendors alike on the first Sunday of the month. There are also seasonal markets at the Blue House Yard, which boasts a number of exceptional cafes including Cakes & Ladders – a board game café currently housed in an old double-decker bus.
