Development in Muswell Hill was sparked by the building of the neighbouring Alexandra Palace in 1873, which was North London’s response to the magnificent Crystal Palace in South London. James Edmondson and William J. Collins were mostly responsible for the area’s property development between 1896 and 1914, giving it one of London’s most unified architectural styles. The predominance of lovely red-brick Edwardian residences is a result of their dedication to constructing homes from premium materials in a consistent design. Bank can be reached in about 20 minutes via the underground from Highgate station in Zone 3. Since Archway is close by and located in Zone 2, one-stop south of Highgate on the Northern line, many locals choose to walk there.

Local bus routes include the 143 to Brent Cross, the 210 to Finsbury Park and the 603 to Muswell Hill. Both buses 214 and 271 to Moorgate operate 24-hour services.

Cycle
